QV supports educational event for Norfolk children

QV Foods was a key sponsor and participant in Countyside Class Room, an educational event held at Stody Estate in Norfolk last week to raise awareness amongst schoolchildren of the importance of farming and the countryside to the region.

Organised by North Norfolk Business Forum Agricultural Round Table, the one-day event was attended by more than 900 local children, along with a large number of sponsors, walkers, standholders and speakers. The prime objective of the day was to share with children all aspects of the farming industry and educate them in an entertaining manner on how farmers and growers are integrating with, and adding to, the local environment.

QV Foods was represented by Chris Marshall, Kevin Lambe and Tom Wright, who explained the intricacies of potato production to children on a site where the company grows 100 hectares of potatoes.

Chris, QV’s Head of Agriculture, said: “QV Foods is always looking for ways to engage with the younger generations in order to help educate them as to the importance of a sustainable agricultural industry. The event at the Stody Estate proved the perfect platform for this, and allowed a huge number of children to see aspects of our industry they may not have been familiar with.

“I would like to congratulate both the Stody Estate and North Norfolk Business Forum Agricultural Round Table teams for organising such a welltargeted, educational and fun event.”

Ross Haddow of the Round Table said: “We hope to use this day as a springboard to further raise the understanding and importance of farming and the countryside in North Norfolk, particularly to children and students , and the important part that farmers play in producing local food and drink, as well as maintaining and enhancing the landscape. We recognise the excellent work already done in this field by many others; and wish to support and compliment them.”
